Description

Very rare, solid silver Half or Demi-Hunter pocket watch in really superb condition with beautiful Rolex signed, double-sunk porcelain dial. A really special piece. All original and appears to be in almost un-polished condition.

Case

Hinged back case is signed A.L.D. (Dennison) and hallmarked for Birmingham with the date letter 'R' denoting 1941 year of manufacture. Case is in beautiful condition with only a few very light marks and still snaps shut nice and tightly. There is no play in the case hinges at all and the inside bears the serial number '713764'.

Front of the case is decorated with blued Roman Numeral hour markers with bulls-eye lens and neither the rear of case or inside cuvette bears any engraving which makes this particular watch very desirable when compared to the more common 'Service award' engravings we are used to seeing. Very rare too considering what year it was produced... During the War, watch parts were at an absolute premium and very little in the way of complete movements made it out of Switzerland during this period.

Case dimensions are 50.5mm in diameter, 70.5mm from bottom of hinge to top of bow and 15.5mm thick.

Dial & Crystal

Brilliant white, double sunk, sub-seconds dial is signed Rolex with bold black arabic numerals and retains its original blued steel, double-bulbed hands. There are no chips, hairlines, discolourations, etc. on the dial - it is perfect. The acrylic crystal is totally free from scratches or chips and is like new.

Movement

Very nicely finished, 17 jewel, fully Rolex signed movement is in very good condition, running perfectly and keeping excellent time.
