Description

Gentleman's Rolex Precision from 1952. Probably South American market as 'Tropical' case denotes warmer climes. Large size, very attractive and unusual case with massive flared lugs. Would cost £8k+ in London (New Bond Street, Burlington Arcade, etc).

Case

18ct red/pink gold case is in excellent condition with highly polished finish. Really outstanding flared-lug design of case gives this watch real wrist-prescence. You're unlikely to ever see someone else wearing anything remotely like this. So unusual to find these models anymore and especially in a large size. Model reference 4488.

The tropical case was so named because gold heats up very easily in the sun which could make a gold watch a little uncomfortable to wear so they fitted a steel back which stays (relatively) cool against your wrist.

Case dimensions are 35mm (not including crown - 36mm including), 10mm thick and 44mm lug to lug.

Dial & Crystal

Flawless, recently refinished white dial with applied 'dagger' type hour markers and matching raised Rolex coronet at 12 o'clock (all in matching red/pink gold) along with the original hands. Dial is signed "Rolex Precision" with "Swiss Made" at 6 o'clock.

Acrylic crystal is free from scratches having been replaced during its recent overhaul/service. Mint/as new condition.

Bracelet/Strap

We have fitted a brand new red/brown crocodile strap which we feel complements the watch perfectly. We have also managed to source a red/pink gold matching Rolex gold-filled buckle which finishes it off beautifully.

Movement

Manual winding, 17 jewel Rolex movement in absolutely beautiful condition (as can be seen from images). Fully signed and in very fine condition. Has just been fully overhauled and is running perfectly. Full 12 months warranty for complete peace of mind.
