Gentleman's Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust in 18ct yellow gold and stainless steel with lovely white dial and dark brown leather strap. A really nice example of this very rare 'ovettone', early DateJust model (A.K.A. Big or Large Bubbleback).
Case
Stainless steel case is in truly mint condition with hardly any signs of refinishing. 18ct yellow gold 'Index' bezel is in good condition with some slight definition loss. Rear cover is also in mint condition with no imperfections or damage. Original screw down, 18ct yellow gold 'Twinlock' winding crown. Model reference: 6105 between lugs at 12 o'clock along with serial number: 903xxx between lugs at 6 o'clock. Rear cover is stamped inside with matching reference number and date code for production during the first quarter of 1953.
Case dimensions are 36mm in diameter (not including crown), 15mm thick and 44.5mm lug to lug.
Dial & Crystal
Lovely, crisp re-finished white dial is a real stunner and has yellow gold 'dagger' type hour markers with matching 'dauphine' hands and Rolex coronet at 12 o'clock. Dial is signed 'Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer' with 'T Swiss T' at 6 o'clock. Dial has framed date aperture at 3 o'clock. The name 'DateJust' wasn't applied to the dial until some years later.
Acrylic (no date bubble) crystal has recently been replaced during service and is perfect with no marks or scratches. This is the correct crystal for this year/model of watch.
Bracelet/Strap
We have fitted a brand new, high quality crocodile leather strap with complementing Rolex gold-filled buckle.
We are also Hirsch stockists and can change the strap to any from their 'Classic' machine made range, or 'artisanal' range of superb hand-made straps if you desire (subject to cost). Please contact us for further details.
Movement
