Description

Superb gentlemans Zenith bi-compax chronograph cased in 18K yellow gold case with original silver dial, hands, winding crown, etc. A truly rare event to source one of these historic (late) manual winding chronograph watches in such mint condition from perhaps the Grandfather of modern chronograph movement production.

Case

Solid 18K yellow gold is in mint condition, still showing faceted edges to lugs - not overly polished at all and retains its original winding crown & pushers. Snap on case back is free from any kind of damage or inscription and bears the serial number: 382D409 which dates it to circa. 1965-1968. No dents, dings or other imperfections to the case sides or smooth bezel. Condition is outstanding.

Case dimensions are 35mm in diameter (not including crown), 11mm thick and 41mm lug to lug.

Dial & Crystal

Beautiful & completely original metallic starburst dial with applied gold/onyx 'baton' hour markers. This is known as a bi-compax dial configuartion due to the sub dials/registers at 3 and 9 o'clock. Dial is signed 'Zenith' with the familiar 'Star' logo and 'Swiss Made' at 6 o'clock. Original hands are also present and are in excellent condition, matching the dial batons perfectly.

Acrylic/Plexiglas crystal is perfect with no scratches, marks or chips of any kind. Could easily be the original crystal due to the overall outstanding condition of the whole watch.

Bracelet/Strap

Brand new 'Duke' leather strap finished in black from Hirsch's 'Classic' range of watch straps with complementing gold-filled buckle.

Movement

Manual winding calibre 146DP, fully signed Zenith movement in very fine condition. Running perfectly and keeping excellent time with all functions working perfectly. This was the very last manual winding chronograph movement produced by Zenith before being replaced with the El Primero automatic chrono family of calibres. Full 12 months warranty.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories

As with the majority of vintage watches, this particular watch does not come with its original boxes or warranty certificate. The watch is 100% genuine and rest assured, we give a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity of all the watches we sell.
